Sustained Opportunities for Nutrition Governance (SONGO) Youth
The Sustained Opportunities for Nutrition Governance (SONGO) employed nutrition-specific
and nutrition sensitive intervention through a lifecycle approach to deliver the right service and
message to the right person at the right time. Funded by the European Union (EU) and
implemented by Cordaid and RDRS Bangladesh, the project worked with 112,000 households
across 6 upazilas (sub-districts) and 18 unions in Gaibandha and Kurigram districts. The project
started in September 2018 and ended in June 2024. To sustainably improve maternal and child
nutrition in Northern Bangladesh, the project used a multi-dimensional, multi-sectoral approach.
Key strategies included multi-stakeholder partnerships, demand creation for health, nutrition,
WASH, and technology, and gender-transformative activities.
